Image Description:

Digital image of the obverse of a bronze coin of Pherai depicting the head of the nymph Hypereia, found in Room 2 of Building 10 at Kastro Kallithea (Thessalia) in 2010 dating to the 280s-270s BC (no later coins of Pherai are known). Hypereia, whose head is turned slightly to the left, is wearing a wreath of reeds. Although it is not clear due to preservation, there is a fish swimming upwards to the left of her head, and she is wearing a necklace and earrings, as is evident from other comparanda.
