Fragment of Bronze Shield from Exterior West Wall of Temple in Fountain House Area of Lower City of Stymphalos (Peloponnesos).
A sheet of bronze folded into a narrow crescent shape decorated with a double cable pattern in repousse, with a nail driven through the folded end, perhaps to hang it up. Appears to be a dedication in the sanctuary. While the shape and decoration suggest the decorative rim of a hoplite shield, the identification is still not certain. Found along the exterior of west wall of the temple in the fountain house area of the Lower City of Stymphalos (Peloponnesos).
